About TMS

What is the Traffic Management Solutions (TMS) initiative all about?

TMS is a traffic laws compliance initiative that allows the real-time capture of picture and video evidence of road traffic and vehicle compliance violations as they occur with the use of handheld devices. LASTMA officers use their devices to capture traffic violations which are processed and thereafter electronic and physical notifications are issued to offenders to notify them of their offences, while VIOs use their own devices to carry out road worthiness compliance checks on vehicles.

What if I am not aware that what I have done is a violation?

The well-known saying – “Ignorance of the law is not an excuse” applies here. It is the responsibility of every vehicle driver to know all traffic compliance laws and comply with them, which is in fact a requirement for obtaining a driver’s licence. The TMS platform also includes videos which educate drivers on most existing traffic laws and how to avoid violating them.

How many pending violations can I accumulate over a period of time?

As many as possible. However, by law, enforcement action may be carried out against your vehicle after the expiration of 48 hours from the time of issuance of a notification ticket.
Notification / Ticketing

I did not receive the E-Mail and SMS verification passwords during my Mobile App registration, what do I do?

This might be a network issue, kindly allow a few minutes and try again. Also ensure that your phone’s Do Not Disturb (DND) network setting is not activated.
To deactivate the DND network setting and enable receipt of verification password SMS, kindly dial the appropriate code:
• Airtel Network: Text “ALLOW” to 2442
• Glo Network: Text “CANCEL” to 2442
• MTN Network: Text “ALLOW” to 2442
• 9Mobile Network: Text “START” to 2442

I paid a violation fine but did not receive SMS notification acknowledging the payment

Kindly use the quick search option on the TMS mobile App or website to check if the violation is still listed under your pending violations list. If it is, kindly allow up to 48hours for paid violations to be processed and removed from the pending list. In the event that the violation is still listed as pending after this time frame, kindly send your violation and vehicle numbers via e-mail -tmssupport@lagosstate.gov.ng or call 07000 TRAFFIC
Payment

What is the deadline to pay my pending violations fine(s)?

48 hours from the time of issuance of a notification ticket.

How easy is it to make payments for violations?

There are several very easy and stress free ways to make payments for violations:
1. Through all electronic payment platforms including POS and Bank ATMs .
2. Through the freely downloaded TMS Mobile App .
3. Through the TMS website
4. At bank branches nationwide

I have paid a violation fine, but the violation is still listed as pending.

Kindly allow up to 48hours for paid violations to be processed and removed from the pending list. In the event that the violation is still listed as pending after this time frame, kindly send your violation and vehicle numbers via e-mail to tmssupport@lagosstate.gov.ng or call 07000 TRAFFIC (07000 8723342).

I paid a violation fine and was debited more than once for the same transaction

Please contact your bank for multiple debit issues.

Can I make a payment for my pending violation(s) without my Violation Number?

No you cannot, as it must be quoted as a reference for the violation fine being paid for. However, you can easily access the Violation Number by using the quick search option to search using your vehicle and chassis numbers.
Challenge

I disagree with the violation processed against my vehicle, what do I do?

You have the option to challenge any violation processed against your vehicle by clicking the “Challenge” button on the mobile app or website.

How do I cancel an initiated challenge?

You can cancel a challenge at any time by simply paying the assigned violation fine.

How long do I have to appear in court to execute my violation challenge?

There is a maximum timeframe of 5 days to visit a traffic court to challenge a violation, the challenge option is automatically cancelled after the expiration of this time and the only option remaining is to pay the fine for the processed violation.
Enforcement

How does the enforcement process work?

Any vehicle with confirmed existing notification(s) that exceed the legal 48 hour period found by a mobile enforcement team, will be impounded in place for a period of 2hours as long as it does not impede traffic flow. After 2 hours or if it will impede traffic flow if impounded in place, the vehicle will be moved to a designated impound yard, with the cost of towing the vehicle there and the daily demurrage fees of the impound yard all to be borne and paid for in full by the vehicle owner before the vehicle is released.
Other Enquiries

Are there ways to contact the TMS operations office for technical support or to report issues?

Yes there are. Emails requesting technical support can be sent to tmssupport@lagosstate.gov.ng or phone calls made to 07000 TRAFFIC (07000 8723342). Issues like improper conduct of traffic officers, bad roads, faulty traffic lights, accidents etc. can all be reported using the Eyewitness function in the mobile App, which allows video and picture media related to the report to be included along with the report text.

Can I switch between two profiles on the App?

Only one profile can be used at a time on the TMS Mobile App. To switch profiles, one user must log out and the new user logs in after.

How do I manage access of my family or fleet management team members to vehicles registered on the App?

For security reasons, vehicles can only be registered under one profile. To allow family or members of any other team access to any registered vehicle, a joint profile should be created with the username and password shared only with trusted members.

Can multiple users be logged into the same profile simultaneously?

No they cannot. For security reasons, only one user can be logged into the same profile at any time.

Why does the mobile App time out?

The mobile App times out to secure your personal information.

I have a new phone number, how do I make it the default number for receiving SMS alerts from the Mobile App?

You can edit your phone number and other details from the profile section of the Mobile App.
